שיר “תפילה לשלום”

יְהִי רָצוֹן מִלְּפָנֶיךָ, יְיָ אֱלֹהֵינוּ וֵאלֹהֵי אֲבוֹתֵינוּ וְאִמּוֹתֵינוּ,

שֶׁתְּבַטֵּל מִלְחָמוֹת וּשְׁפִיכוּת דָּמִים מִן הָעוֹלָם,

וְתַמְשִׁיךְ שָׁלוֹם גָּדוֹל וְנִפְלָא בָּעוֹלָם,

(וְתַמְשִׁיךְ שָׁלוֹם בָּעוֹלָם)

וְלֹא יִשָּׂא גּוֹי אֶל גּוֹי חֶרֶב,

וְלֹא יִלְמְדוּ עוֹד מִלְחָמָה.

רַק יַכִּירוּ וְיֵדְעוּ כָּל יוֹשְׁבֵי תֵבֵל אֶת הָאֱמֶת לַאֲמִתָּהּ:

שֶלֹא בָאנוּ לָעוֹלָם בִּשְׁבִיל רִיב וּמַחֲלֹקֶת,

וְלֹא בִּשְׁבִיל שִׂנְאָה וְקִנְאָה וְקִנְטוּר וּשְׁפִיכוּת דָּמִים;

רַק בָּאנוּ לָעוֹלָם כְּדֵי לְהַכִּיר אוֹתְךָ, תִתְבָּרֵךְ לָנֶצַח.

וּבְכֵן, רַחֵם עָלֵינוּ וְקַיֵּם בָּנוּ מִקְרָא שֶׁכָּתוּב:

וְנָתַתִּי שָׁלוֹם בָּאָרֶץ, וּשְׁכַבְתֶּם וְאֵין מַחֲרִיד,

וְהִשְׁבַּתִּי חַיָּה רָעָה מִן הָאָרֶץ, וְחֶרֶב לֹא תַעֲבֹר בְּאַרְצְכֶם.

וְיִגַּל כַּמַּיִם מִשְׁפָּט, וּצְדָקָה כְּנַחַל אֵיתָן.

כִּי מָלְאָה הָאָרֶץ דֵּעָה אֶת יְיָ

כַּמַּיִם לַיָּם מְכַסִּים.

וְכֵן יְהִי רָצוֹן וְנֹאמַר אָמֵן.

A Song “A Prayer for Peace”

May it be Your will, Our God and the God of our ancestors,

To cause war and bloodshed to cease,

To cause a great wonderful peace to continue around the whole world.

Then nation will not threaten nation,

And humans will not again know war.

For all who live on earth will realize, the real truth;

We have not come into this world for strife or dispute,

Nor have we been born for hatred, jealousy, spite or bloodshed;

We have come into being to know You, blessed One, forever.

Thus, compassionate God, fulfill the promise of Scripture:

“I will bring peace to the land, and you shall lie down and no one shall terrify you… I will rid the land of vicious beasts and it shall not be ravaged by war.” (Lev. 26, 6)

“Let love and justice flow like a mighty stream, For the world will be filled with knowledge of God, as the seas are filled with water.” (Amos 5, 24; Isa. 11, 9)

And let us say,

Amen.
